Public taxis/combos, or mini buses inside cities are the best form of public transport in South Africa. Jump in one of these for a few Rand.

The Baz bus is another excellent service for travellers. However, as a couple it was cheaper to rent a car, giving us much more freedom and the possibility of free accommodation!
